乞丐/邱来根
　　
　　一位乞丐，沿街乞讨，只要钱，不要饭。
　　若干年后，乞丐积攒了不少钱财。他把硬币换成纸币；把零钱换成大钞。为了不让钱财露白，他把大钞一张张卷起来，塞进朝夕相处的讨饭棍里。
　　又过了若干年，偌大的讨饭棍塞满了百元大钞。他估摸着积蓄的钱财足够他回乡造两间房子，娶一位妻子……
　　一日，乞丐兴高采烈地站到一座高高的大桥上，大喊道：“下半辈子，我再也不用要饭了！”说完将讨饭棍扔进了大江里。
　　等乞丐回过神来，那根装满钱财的讨饭棍早已沉入了江底。

　　Once there was a beggar who was wandering along the streets, asking for no food, but money.
　　As years passed, the beggar had collected a considerable sum of money. He converted the coins to notes, small notes to big ones. In order not to expose his rich, he had each big note rolled and slipped into the begging stick, which he held day and night.
　　As more years passed, so large a stick had been full of big notes. By his estimate, he had collected enough money to build two houses in the country and marry a girl…
　　“For the rest of my life, I won’t be a beggar any more!” shouted the beggar one day, when he was standing on a high bridge, in great delight. With the shout, he threw his begging stick into the roaring river…
　　That precious money-filled begging stick had already sunk to the bottom of the river long before the beggar came back to his consciousness.
