龟/叶雨
　　
　　不知那人来自何处，亦不知那人姓甚名谁。
　　我见到他，是在他讨饭的时候——文化大革命时期，虽说祖国山河一片红，也有讨饭的。二十来岁，穿一身黄军装。到人门前只傻傻地笑。人家让他喊叔喊爷，或者对女人喊姑喊奶喊姨，他总是让人如愿。所以很多人家虽不富裕，总要给他递块红薯或者窝窝，有时是一碗面汤、面条......后来，有人说他的名字叫贵——或者龟，可能多数人认为他叫做“龟”吧，所以，也就没有人去分别是“贵”或是“龟”。只要他来讨饭，总有人给他一口吃的。后来有一段时间，GUI不见了。人们就问：那个傻蛋上哪里啦？就有信息灵通人士说：在弹棉花哩。据说，弹棉花一天可以挣一块多钱。于是，我们就不再关注他了。忽然有一天，街上死了一个盲流，围观的人里三层外三层，唏嘘不已……但是，一连几天那盲流的尸体都直挺在街上。是GUI出钱把那人埋了。再后来，GUI彻底没了影。听说回了老家。GUI的老家在哪，也没人过问。
　　现在想起他，那个穿黄军装的傻子，我的心里酸酸的。我想，他就叫“龟”吧。忍者神龟，其真傻乎？

　　No one knows where he came from; neither does anyone know what his family name or given name was.
　　When I first saw him, he was a beggar. During the Cultural Revolution, there were indeed some beggars aside from those red guards. He was in his twenties, in a suit of yellow army uniform. He visited door-to-door, smiling like a fool. Whenever asked to address some man “uncle” or “grandpa” or some woman “aunt” or “grandma”, he would like to. Therefore, many people would offer him roast sweet potatoes, buns, a bowl of flour soup, noodles… though they themselves were not wealthy enough. Later, someone called him GUI, meaning “noble” or “tortoise”; no one did care which the exact Chinese character was. As long as he begged for food, he got it. Still later, GUI disappeared for some time. “Where’s that foolish guy?” Someone asked. “He’s fluffing cotton.” Some well-informed person replied. He was said to earn more than one yuan per day by fluffing cotton. Thus was he out of our concern. One day, a tramp was found dead on the street, which caused crowds of people to sigh. The body of that tramp remained unburied for several days; it was GUI who finally paid for the burial. Then GUI disappeared for ever. He was said to have gone back to his home town, but no one cared where it was.
　　Thinking of him, a fool in a suit of yellow army uniform, I feel upset. I’ll call him Ninja Turtle. He was not really a fool, was he?
