　　前几天和领导出差到武汉。为了省钱，我们找到了一个小旅馆。很巧，只剩下一个双人房间和一个地下室没顾客。
　　可是领导说自己鼾声太大，不好意思和我同住。他把楼上的钥匙给了我。领导住没有空调的地下室，我住楼上装修精巧的空调间，不是笑话吗！我强行和领导换了房。第一次和领导出差就有天上地下之别，尽管是我主动换的，可躺在床上心里真不舒服。
　　大约夜里12点钟左右领导打来电话问地下室有电吗。“没电。”我开灯不亮后回答。于是听到领导在电话里骂娘。我又睡不着了。在武汉大夏天空调不能工作，领导一定热得受不了。从房东那里得知大约停电3个小时后，我来到了领导房间，和领导换房。我不知道领导躺在地下室什么心情，反正我躺在楼上心里更不舒服了。
　　躺着没过20分钟，电，突然又来了。我又不得不到地下室去和领导换房。又回到了地下室床上，两眼望着天花板，没有一点想睡觉的心情了……
　　
　　Double Room or Basement

　　The other day my boss and I made a business trip to Wuhan. For the sake of economy, we checked in a small hotel in which there happened to be only one double room and the basement left vacant.
　　My boss said he snored badly and wasn’t to share the double room, so he offered the key to me. My boss would be sleeping in the basement without air-conditioning while I in the well-furnished cool room? What a joke! I insisted on going to the basement. While lying on bed, I felt rather uneasy. Voluntary as I was, I got the feeling of being on earth while my boss in heaven.
　　About midnight, my boss called me, “Power is off.” Then I heard him utter a curse on the phone. I couldn’t fall asleep again. My boss must have been suffering a lot from the summer heat of Wuhan since the air-conditioning stopped working. I was informed by the landlady that the electricity would come again about three hours later. I went up to my boss’s room and insisted on his going to the basement. I didn’t know how he was feeling there. But I was feeling more uncomfortable in the room.
　　In less than twenty minutes, power was on, suddenly. I went to the basement again, where I was lying on bed, fixing my eyes on the ceiling, not feeling like sleeping in the least.
