　　一个偶然的机会，乡下一位老农到县城，在药材收购门市，看到一种自己似曾相识的野草。回到村里，老农找到自己看到的野草，拿到城里出售，果然卖了个好价钱。渐渐地，村里人都知道老农每年要进一趟城，是为了卖一种神秘的野草。许多人包括他的儿子，都想知道他卖的是什么草，长在什么地方，都未能如愿。十几年后，老农不慎摔了一跤后，身不能动口不能言，没来得及把秘密说出来，便与世长辞。老人卖的野草，成了村里人一个永远无法解开的谜。

　　An old farmer once visited the County Town. At a store which collects medicinal materials, he happened to see a species of wild grass seemingly familiar to him. Back to his village, the old farmer located the grass he had seen in town. When delivering the grass to the store, he was given a good price. As time wore away, villagers learned that the old man went to town once a year in order to sell a mysterious species of wild grass. Many people, including his son, had tried in vain to make clear what kind of grass he sold and where the grass grew. A dozen years later, the old farmer accidentally fell down, incapable of moving or speaking, and passed away before standing any chance of telling the secret; so the wild grass he sold remained forever an unsolved mystery to villagers.
