　　王伯伯来医院看爷爷，他参加过抗日战争。
　　他说，那次伏击一炮干掉了鬼子一位将军。我使劲拍巴掌，问王伯伯喜欢什么武器。他说喜欢从鬼子那缴来的小钢炮。
　　爷爷也参加了抗日战争，我问爷爷，爷爷却什么也没说。
　　祁伯伯来医院说他最得意的是参加了孟良崮战役。
　　说到最喜欢的武器，祁伯伯说是从敌人那缴获来的冲锋枪。我问同样参加了解放战争的爷爷有什么得意的事情，爷爷笑着摇了摇头。
　　有位赵伯伯，在抗美援朝时就是位大干部。
　　我问他打过什么胜仗，他说，在板门桥签署和平协议就是最大的胜仗。那么，你最喜欢什么武器呢？
　　他说了一句让我意外的话，他说，他最喜欢的武器是从敌人那缴获来的密电码。说完这话，他向爷爷敬了一个军礼。
　　送走他，我搂住爷爷的脖子，一定要他讲经历过的战斗。
　　我经历的战斗……爷爷有些奇怪地说，胜利的不能宣扬，没胜利的不能解释。
　　我很迷茫，问他喜欢什么武器。
　　我最喜欢的武器比较特殊，爷爷说，这个武器是从战争中学来的。我要他快说。爷爷轻轻吐出了两个字，欺骗。

　　Grandpa was in hospital.
　　Then came Uncle Wang, who had fought the Anti-Japanese War. He recalled an ambush in which a general of the invaders had been finished off in an artillery fire. I clapped my hands hard as I asked him what kinds of weapons he had preferred. He said he had preferred a type of small steel-made artillery piece seized from the invader.
　　Grandpa had also fought the Anti-Japanese War, but when asked what kinds of weapons he had preferred, he would say nothing.
　　Uncle Qi came. He said he was most proud that he had fought in the Menglianggu battle.
　　Speaking of the weapons, Uncle Qi said he had preferred the submachine gun seized from the rival.
　　I asked grandpa, who had also fought the Liberation War, what he was most proud of; yet grandpa shook his head with a smile.
　　There was an Uncle Zhao, who had been an important principal during the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. When asked what the victory was for him, he said Truce of Panmunjom was the ultimate triumph. “Then what kinds of weapons do you like most?”
　　His reply was beyond my expectation. He said his favorites had been those intercepted secret codes from the enemy. With this he respectfully saluted to Grandpa.
　　Uncle Zhao having gone, I embraced Grandpa by the neck, urging him to talk about fights he had experienced.
　　“Fights I have experienced?” Strange enough, Grandpa said, “Those I won are not to be announced; those I lost are not to be interpreted.”
　　Puzzled, I asked what kinds of weapons he had liked.
　　“They were rather special,” said Grandpa. “They had been learned from various fights.”
　　I urged Grandpa to go ahead. Softly, he uttered one word, “Tricks.”
