　　低压电器厂新来了一个工人，四十来岁，胡子天天刮得很干净，头发也修得很整齐，工人们暗地里叫他公子哥。
　　公子哥管包装，可他偏偏要干吃力不讨好的事，所有开关他都试一遍，看看有没有合不上或拉不开的，然后才装进纸盒包装起来，再贴上出厂标签。
　　“伙计，你吃饱撑的？”
　　“随手的事，不耽误工夫的。我看着品质挺好的，没退货的吧？”
　　“敢情，我们厂长抓质量严着呐，谁生产的产品不合格就送上展台，写上名字，连他的弟弟也不放过。”
　　“现在连鸡蛋都涨价了，这低压开关也该涨两块钱了。”
　　“没涨过，现在生产量大了，还降了一块钱。”
　　公子哥和邻座的小李说着话并没有停下手中的活。小李有意识地数了一下，公子哥比自己竟多包装了三十个，心中暗想这公子哥还行。
　　下午快收工时，厂长过来了，和每个职工说说笑笑，就跟哥们一样。厂长走到公子哥跟前，看他是新来的，活干得挺多，就拍拍他的肩膀说：“好好干，我过去和你一样。”谁知公子哥站起来也拍拍厂长的肩膀说：“你干得不错，我过去也和你一样。”

　　There came a new employee in the Low-voltage Electrical Appliances Factory. Though in his forties, he was so well-shaved and tidily-trimmed that his workmates secretly called him “Mr. Prince”.
　　“Mr. Prince” was responsible for packaging, but he would go out of his way to act as a fool for his pains; he would be testing all switches to see whether they didn’t match or they didn’t work before packaging them in the cartons and labeling them as “Qualified”.
　　“Buddie, you are bringing coal to New Castle!”
　　“It doesn’t cost me anything to do this; they are of good quality. We don’t have purchases returned, do we?”
　　“You said it! Our factory director attaches so much importance to quality that the unqualified product would be exposed with the worker’s name on it, even if it should be his own brother’s fault.”
　　“Even things like eggs are advancing in price, so a two-yuan rise of the price of a low-voltage switch sounds reasonable.”
　　“Quite the opposite. Because of a larger output, we have lowered the price by one yuan.”
　　While talking to Xiao Li next to his working table, “Mr. Prince” never stopped his work on hand. With an intentional calculation in his mind, Xiao Li realized that “Mr. Prince” had packaged 30 switches more than he did, as he thought for himself that this “Mr. Prince” had proved not to be a green hand.
　　It was almost the time to knock off in the afternoon when the director came conversing with his employees like a brother. Approaching “Mr. Prince”, who was apparently a capable newcomer, the director patted him on the shoulder as he said, “You are a hard worker. I used to be like you.”
　　Surprisingly enough, “Mr. Prince” stood up and equally patted the director’s shoulder as he said, “You’ve done a good job. I used to be like you.”
