　　“你该放心了，白菱，都两个多月了，你家老吴连亲我一下都不肯，要是换上别的男人，我早把他拿下了。”
　　“不行赤羽，还得继续考验。你明天向他摊牌，看他有什么反映？”
　　第二天老吴刚出门，我就悄悄地跟了出去。光听赤羽说不行，我必须亲眼看看老吴的表现。
　　两人在森林公园深处的假山上坐了下来，我跟过去，躲在一块大石头后面。
　　“你怎么到我家去了？不是说好只打电话的吗？”
　　“我只想看看你老婆白菱是个什么样的人，让你这么费心思？”
　　“说实话，我真的很喜欢你，可我只能把这份感情藏在心底，我可不想引起一场家庭大地震。”
　　赤羽站了起来。
　　“实不相瞒，老吴，我就是受白菱之托，来考验你的抗震能力的。好了，你过关了，咱们回去吧。”
　　老吴愣住了，她怎么能这样呢，有几个男人能经得住这种考验啊，她就不怕弄假成真吗？
　　赤羽拍拍老吴的肩膀。
　　“走吧，老吴，你是个好男人。我也该回去向白菱交差了。”
　　老吴坐着没动，直视着赤羽。
　　“我是不是也要找个男人试试她呢？”
　　“行了，老吴，别那么小心眼了。”
　　赤羽拉起老吴，两人手挽手向山下走去。
　　我待在原地没动。赤羽这么风骚，他俩真的什么事也没有发生？他们是不是给我演戏呢？

　　“Worry no more, Bailing. For over two months your husband Lao Wu hasn’t given me even a kiss. Any other man would have been in my trap.”
　　“Don’t stop, Chiyu. Go on with the testing. Show your ace tomorrow and capture his responses.”
　　The following day, hardly had Lao Wu left home when I quietly tailed him. Chiyu’s report was not enough; I must check Lao Wu’s performance with my eyes.
　　Lao Wu and Chiyu were sitting on an artificial hill deep in the forest park as I approached them, hiding myself behind a huge stone.
　　“Why did you come to my home? We have agreed to connect each other through phone calls, haven’t we?”
　　“I meant nothing but to see what kind of a wife has made so devoted a husband.”
　　“Frankly, I do like you very much; but I have to bury this affection in the bottom of my heart for fear that an earthquake should occur in my home.”
　　Chiyu rose to her feet.
　　“To tell you the truth, Lao Wu, I have been trusted by Bailing to test your resistance to an earthquake. Well, you’ve passed the test. Let’s go.”
　　Lao Wu was frozen. How could it be? What should be the odds of men’s passing such a test? What if I had failed?
　　Chiyu patted Lao Wu on the shoulder.
　　“Let’s go, Lao Wu. You are a good man. I’ll be telling everything to Bailing.”
　　Lao Wu didn’t move a damn, staring at Chiyu directly.
　　“I should assign some man to give her a test, shouldn’t I?”
　　“That’s all right, Lao Wu. Don’t be so mean.”
　　Chiyu raised Lao Wu to his feet, and they descended the hill, hand in hand.
　　I remained still. What a coquettish woman Chiyu was! Nothing had really happened between them, indeed? Weren’t they performing on my behalf?
