　　他决定改名，因为他每天都觉得自己过得好痛苦。
　　大学毕业后好不容易花了近半年的时间才找到了这份工作，他一定要好好珍惜。
　　可是每天一上班，看门的大爷朝他一笑，他就浑身的不自在；办公室门口，同事朝他点头一笑，他总觉得他们的笑多么的虚假；特别是前台那人见人爱的文员朝他一笑，他更是恨不得找个地缝钻进去——他知道那文员轻易不向人笑的，一笑起来是那样的迷人，让人倾倒，可他找不到那种感觉。
　　因为他叫皮带，一个土得不能再土的名字。小时候，爹娘说他命贱，不好养，特地取了个贱的名字。总算让他活下来了。
　　他带着多少年的耻辱、忍受了数不清的耻笑活了下来。
　　他决定改名。他带上户口本，到派出所去，那漂亮可爱的户籍警朝他一笑，多么迷人，可他却不敢拿正眼瞧她。
　　他好开心，他有自己的名字了……李志强，志气强大。他决心要出人头地，让自己有出息，让自己的命不再贱。
　　当他把这一伟大创举向所有人公布时，大家又笑了，笑得那么恐怖，好几个女同事笑得流出了眼泪。他傻了，比“皮带”还贱、还好笑吗？
　　他一头雾水地坐在办公桌前，随手翻起了当天的报纸。“一抢劫强奸杀人犯潜入我市，被我公安机关抓获”，原来那人作案后改名李志强潜逃至本市。
　　他决定改名。

　　He finally made up his mind to change to a new name, since he had been living a miserable life all these days.
　　When he graduated from college, it took him lots of effort and nearly half a year to find this job, to which he would attach much importance.
　　However, every morning saw his thorough embarrassment when the aged security guard greeted him. What false masks he thought they were wearing when his colleagues nodded smiling to him at his entry to office! He would rather hide himself in a seam when the dear secretary cast him a feminine smile, rare, enchanting and greatly admired by every one. The fault was his.
　　For his name was Pi Dai (in Chinese literally meaning “leather belt”), a name which sounded less humble than none. According to his parents, he was born with such a humble fate that only a humble name could have helped him through.
　　Years of shame and countless sneers did help him through.
　　Finally he made up his mind to change to a new name and went to the police station with his household register. The lovely dear policewoman smiled at him. What an enchanting smile! But he dared not meet her eyes.
　　How happy he was! He had his new name — Li Zhiqiang, meaning “a man with great ambitions”. He was determined to stand out in life, rising to the top and getting out of his humble fate.
　　When he declared the great change of his, everyone burst into laughter, so awfully that several women colleagues even laughed with tears. He was stupefied. Did his new name sound more humble and rediculous than Pi Dai?
　　With no idea of what the matter was, he sat at his desk browsing the latest newspaper. “A suspected robber, raper and murderer was captured in our city!” The suspect was using a false name, Li Zhiqiang.
　　He made up his mind to change to another new name.
